Morning: Drive to Jerome — coffee at the Haunted Hamburger, browse the galleries, hit the state historic park. Afternoon: Verde Canyon Railroad departs at 1 PM from Clarkdale (book ahead). Evening: Back at the property for creek-side stargazing — our location has minimal light pollution and the sky puts on a show.
For history buffs: Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot are both within 20 minutes and take about an hour each. Easy to combine in a single morning.
